The Hamilton trials held at Hamilton last Wednesday, May 29th produced two horses worth following over the next three days.
Pooles Accountants Golden Topaz, Vic Sprint Series Heat 6 1200m – 3.20pm
R7 H5 I AM SOMEONE – Trainer: Paul Preusker / Jockey: Dean Holland

Comment:
Very good sprinter from the Paul Preusker stable. Come of age this prep, recording two listed
placings behind Miss Leonidas and She’s So High before winning the Wangoom Hcp, also Listed
during the carnival at Warrnambool.
Significantly that was his first win at 1200m, the distance of the Golden Topaz. He did fail in the
Group 1 Goodwood Hcp last start, but this is a big drop back in class.
In the trial, regular rider Dean Holland let him slide across to lead and from that point he idled along
at a strong tempo before easing up the last 75 metres. He looked super strong and the three weeks
between runs should have him ready to fire.
BET: Early markets have him at around $7, betting 1 x 2 will get you a nice result.
The Bushman’s Arms Hotel Maiden Plate 1000m – 12.35pm
R2 H6 REAL ROY – Trainer: Kaye Edwards / Jockey: Justin Huxtable
Watch Trial: view Hamilton trial here (White colours & leads)
Comment:
The unraced son of Real Jester showed great natural speed to cross the field from a wide barrier and
lead all the way in the first heat on a very heavy track.
Ridden by Jenna Edwards, the daughter of trainer Kaye Edwards who is based at Casterton, she has
found the perfect track and distance for his debut at Edenhope.
A tight track that plays to on pace runners, he gets his chance to go very close on debut.
He looked to tire a little late in the trial, but with a better surface predicted at Edenhope, I expect his
natural speed to a big positive around the tight circuit.
Justin Huxtable takes the ride.
BET: Not sure what price he will go up, but I’d be betting WIN ONLY.
